KENYA HIGHLIGHTS

On this interesting 8-day Kenya safari you have the best chances of sighting the famous “Big 5” and with a bit of luck in Samburu National Park also the “Unique 5 of the North” – Grevy Zebra, Oryx Antelope, Somali Ostrich, Gerenuk and reticulated giraffe.

Day 1 | Nairobi
Upon arrival at Nairobi Airport, the driver will transfer you to the hotel. Here the course of the trip is discussed and you get to know your guide.

Day 2 | Nairobi – Samburu National Park
After breakfast around 08:00 departure to Samburu National Park where you will arrive for lunch. After a short break, you will experience your first game drive in the national park in the afternoon. A special feature in Samburu National Park are the “Special Five”: Reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, Somali ostrich, Grevy’s zebra and Beisa antelope.

Day 3 | Samburu National Park
Before breakfast we go on another game drive. Big cats are particularly easy to spot in the early morning hours. Spend the day relaxing at your lodge before enjoying another afternoon game drive until sunset.

Day 4 | Samburu-Aberdare Mountains
After breakfast, drive south to the Aberdare Mountains. The journey takes about 3 hours and you visit the dignified Aberdares Country Club for lunch. In the afternoon you go on a game drive in the Aberdare National Park and enjoy not only the wildlife but also the exceptionally beautiful mountain landscape.

Day 5 | Aberdare Mountains – Lake Nakuru
After breakfast, drive to Lake Nakuru, home to more than a million flamingos. You will reach your lodge in time for lunch. In the afternoon we go on a game drive in Nakuru National Park, which is particularly famous for its good rhino sightings and flamingos.

Day 6 | Lake Nakuru – Maasai Mara
In the early morning you continue to the world famous Maasai Mara. The journey takes 4-6 hours and you arrive at your destination in time for lunch. After a rest break in the camp, you will go on your first game drive in the afternoon.
The Maasai Mara National Reserve is known far beyond the borders of Kenya. It is famous for its population of big cats, is the site of the world’s largest animal migration from July to October and is known as the home of the Maasai tribe. A natural extension of the Serengeti in northern Tanzania, the Maasai Mara in southwest Kenya play a key role in sustaining the annual Great Migration of wildebeest and zebra.

Day 7 | Maasai Mara
Today you have a full day game drive in the Maasai Mara National Reserve. You take a lunch box with you and enjoy your lunch as a picnic in the great outdoors.

Day 8 | Maasai Mara – Nairobi
After breakfast, drive back to Nairobi, arriving in time for lunch. Enjoy one last lunch at Carnivore Restaurant, famous for its excellent meat specialities, before you are driven to the airport.
