SOUTH AFRICA’S HIGHLIGHTS

Enjoy a ‘Big 5’ game drive in Kruger National Park, experiencing the finest highlights that cosmopolitan Cape Town has to offer before embarking on a leisurely journey along the Garden Route.

Day 1 – Johannesburg – Kruger National Park
Drive to the Mpumalanga region and check into the lodge. Then drive into the world famous Kruger National Park where you will spend the afternoon wildlife viewing (closed vehicle).

Day 2 – Kruger National Park
Early start for an open vehicle game drive (with English speaking game ranger and packed breakfast) through the Kruger National Park. Return to the lodge for lunch (own expense). In the afternoon another game drive in a closed vehicle.

Day 3 – Mpumalanga
Day trip along the Panorama Route, one of the most scenic roads in the region, with great views, spectacular scenery and magnificent waterfalls.

Day 4 – Kruger National Park – Johannesburg – Cape Town
Drive to Johannesburg Airport and onward flight to Cape Town (departure after 15:00), where you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure (unaccompanied).

Day 5 – Cape Town
Continue exploring by taking a day tour of the Cape Peninsula.

Day 6 – Cape Town (unaccompanied)
A full day at leisure to explore the city.

Day 7 – Cape Town – Pince Albert
Drive through the scenic Hex River Valley to Matjiesfontein, a National Heritage Site. Continue to the pretty village of Prince Albert, where you stay overnight.

Day 8 – Prince Albert – Oudtshoorn
Enjoy a spectacular drive through the Meiringspoort Pass and the Swartberg Mountains to De Rust. The journey then continues to Oudtshoorn. Wine tasting en route. Participate in a guided tour of the Cango Caves and a visit to an ostrich farm.

Day 9 – Oudtshoorn – Knysna
Today the journey goes over the Outeniqua Pass to George and on to Knysna via Wilderness. Here you will enjoy a boat trip across the lagoon to the Featherbed Nature Reserve. Take a tractor ride to the top of western Knysna Head for wonderful views over the lagoon and town. You will have lunch in the nature reserve and the afternoon is at leisure.

Day 10 – Knysna
Visit to the “Garden of Eden”, an untouched and lush native forest. Discover this beautiful forest with its dense treetops. Afterwards there is the opportunity to visit the Monkeyland primate sanctuary. Watch the resident primates roam freely in the treetops. This sanctuary has gained notoriety for releasing animals that were formerly held in captivity here. Then the trip goes to the famous Eastern Heads with a view of the Knysna Heads and the Lagoon (depending on the weather conditions). Finally, the journey continues to Brentaon on Sea with its pristine beaches. You have the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 11 – Knysna – Port Elizabeth
A driver will take you to Port Elizabeth, where your trip ends. You can also be driven to Port Elizabeth Airport on request.
